With just days to go to the start of the London 2012 Olympics, defending champion of the Men’s singles Tennis event Rafael Nadal, has pulled out of the games, stating that he is “not in condition” to compete.

The 26-year-old Spaniard is suffering from tendinitis on his troublesome knee, which rules him out of contention,to defend the Gold medal he won in Beijing four years ago.

“I do not find myself in a condition to compete,” he said. “It is one of the saddest moments of my career.”

Nadal has not played since he lost in the second round of Wimbledon to then 100th-ranked Lukas Rosol.
