Heartland would be playing in their second consecutive Federation cup finals,on Sunday after defeating giant-killers,Prime FC in the semi-finals game played in Ilorin.
The defending champions,needed a penalty shoot-outs in other to see-off a buoyant Prime FC,who accounted for the eliminations of big clubs like Enyimba and Rangers in the other rounds.
In a fiercely contested game both sides saw red as center referee Sanni Mohammed,gave Heartland’s Kabiru Umar and Prime’s Tope Akande the marching orders.
Experience seperated the two teams during the penalty kicks as Heartland ran away with a 5-2 victory.
Meanwhile ,in the other keenly contested semi-finals game of the Federation Cup played in Calabar,table toppers of the Nigerian Premier League,Kano Pillars and Lobi Stars played out another 0-0 draw.
Lobi emerged victorious after the shoot-out,which they won 5-4.
Lobi currently lie second in the Nigeria Premier League table,behind Kano Pillars,who are on top on 64 points with just one game to go.
Heartland will now take on Lobi Stars,in the finals of the Federatiion’s Cup,which will be played on Sunday August 26th at the Teslim Balogun Stadium Lagos.
